The MailTotal Anti-Virus service is an on-line managed system designed to protect companies and organizations from e-mail based security threats. It accomplishes this by intercepting all incoming mail and passing it through an advanced filter system which scans for threats using the most up-to-date version of FRISK Software International's MailTotal Anti-Virus engine and virus definitions.

The MailTotal Anti-Virus system is fully maintained and managed by FRISK security experts. This means that there is no installation needed at the user end, the only change that has to be made is where the customer's e-mail is routed.

The FRISK virus lab and MailTotal Anti-Virus teams work closely together to guarantee that as soon as new virus definitions are available, they are immediately transferred to the MailTotal's message filters. This guarantees that MailTotal Anti-Virus always provides the most up-to-date protection available.

In addition to the recognition and disinfection of known threats, the service passes messages through the MailTotal Anti-Virus, FireNet, which is a collection generic security filters and specialized e-mail heuristics that block whole classes of security risks - thus protecting its users from new, unknown threats. The FireNet provides critical protection during the first minutes or hours of a global outbreak, while FRISK Software's virus analysts work on analysing it and add it to the list of known threats.

The MailTotal Anti-Virus service offers three levels of service, each providing a different feature set to meet our customers' different needs:

SecureFirst:

A simple, basic service.

E-mail is scanned by MailTotal Anti-Virus and the FireNet, dangerous content is removed.

SecureActive:

E-mail is scanned by MailTotal Anti-Virus and the FireNet.

Original copies of all modified messages are kept in a Quarantine.

Security policies can be customized for individual recipients.

Users or administrators can manage the Quarantine and security policies via the MailTotal Anti-Virus web site.

SecurePlus:

Adds e-mail backup availability to the options provided by the Secure Active service level.
